Response to call for assistance for individuals affected by Tai Po fire
We are all extremely saddened by the recent disastrous fire which has affected many lives and families in Hong Kong.
On behalf of our College, I want to extend our deepest condolences to all those who have been tragically affected by this devastating event. Our hearts go out to all of those being affected during this difficult time.
I am incredibly proud of the tremendous and prompt responses demonstrated by you as our HKCFP members and Fellows in response to our recent urgent call for assistance. Your commitment to immediately volunteering your time and effort to relieve the physical, social, and psychological distress of your fellow citizens truly exemplifies the extraordinary and often under-recognised role of family doctors in times of crisis. The solidarity and dedication you have shown are a testament to the strength and professionalism of family doctors who are at the forefront as the guardians of the societal health.
As informed by the Primary Health Care Commission, the support to the affected residents of the fire incident is evolving into the next phase, the District Health Centres (DHCs) will support their post-crisis medical and psychological needs by providing assessment and pairing up the affected residents with the volunteer doctors who offer free medical consultations (with at least 3 months of services and at least 3 free consultations with medication included). Our College has been invited to be a partner for recruiting volunteer doctors to participate in the aforementioned scheme. Therefore, you are cordially invited to continue supporting the affected residents and to enroll as volunteer doctors by providing your practice information via the e-form below for listing in the Primary Care Directory (PCD) / eHealth to facilitate communication with the public and searching by the affected families in eHealth App.
